BQA Requirements
Central Livestock Assocation has believed in, and has actively promoted the Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program for many years. We have hosted farmer and staff trainings at all our auction market locations in recent years. We have partnered with cattlemen's organizations, feed and pharmaceutical companies, and others, in bringing the latest training expertise to our market area. Starting in 2019, some beef packers will begin to require documentation that all cattle they harvest originate from BQA certified operations We want to offer your cattle to as many buyers as possible, so we highly encourage you to provide a copy of your BQA certificate to the market where you sell cattle, as soon as possible. If you have not been through the training, or if your certification has expired, you can take the training at https://www.bqa.org/ We plan to host more BQA trainings in 2019 and beyond, but please don't wait for one of those dates to get certified. If you have any questions please call any of our markets. We want to get to a point where all cattle coming through our sales, can be represented at coming from BQA qualified herds. Your help is greatly appreciated! |

Central Order Buying
Central Order Buying (COB) works in both feeder and finished animal purchase and sales. COB's choice fed division effectively adds to the competition between buyers on the market. COB's feeder division helps both the producer needing feeders (cattle, feeder pigs, or lambs) as well as the producer selling stock in the auction. The packer purchase division of the COB fills orders for slaughter livestock from packers and processors not located directly on the market. It has broadened the demand for the livestock offered for sale at the markets upon which COB operates. Over the years, COB had contributed immeasurably to the development of healthy competitive situation, which has meant higher returns to producers. |

$ervice Plus
$ervice Plus offers a plan under which a seller of livestock or trucker can choose to defer payment. $ervice Plus offers sellers and truckers who do not have immediate needs for the cash the option to earn a rate of return that is typically better than that offered on a short term basis by area financial institutions. The rate paid is a variable rate adjusted to CENTRAL LIVESTOCK's cost of funds. You can receive full or partial payment by contacting CENTRAL LIVESTOCK's home office in South St. Paul. For a minimal fee, funds can be electronically transferred to your checking or savings account. $ervice Plus funds are backed by the assets of CENTRAL LIVESTOCK. Vaccination ID Program Stairway to Marketing Value-Added Feeder Cattle
CENTRAL LIVESTOCK understands the terms "value-added" and "premium" are used often and sometimes out of context in the cattle industry. To add to the confusion, some feeder cattle are discounted, leaving some cow/calf producers wondering what they did wrong. To help clarify what exactly "value-added" means, CENTRAL LIVESTOCK has developed and easy guide called the Stairway to Marketing Value-Added Feeder Cattle.
